FT Lateral after SA

I'm hoping to gain some insight into the lateral process following a SA stint (moving somewhere new for FT). Specifically, I'm curious about the timeline over the summer, how long it takes to get comfortable with technicals again, when to do networking chats/prep, etc. I'm interested in pursuing roles in restructuring and would greatly appreciate any advice or insights you may have to offer. Thank you in advance!

It's going to be difficult because this year most places hired significantly less SA because they are going to convert them to FT so won't have any spaces for laterals/FT recruitment. The one or two spaces that the odd bank does have available are going to be super competitive.

Personally, I started doing networking chats ~4 weeks into my internship and would apply to positions on Handshake whenever they were posted. Unless you are 100% sure you don’t want to take a return offer, the timelines can get a bit sticky with getting another offer while still having your return offer on the table.
