Has anyone gone through FT recruiting at BBs like MS, BAML, and Barclays. Can you go through a group specific process (if there’s space) or have to do generalist like everyone else?

Incoming FT at Barclays - it wasn't possible to interview for a specific group. Everyone gets a generalist offer, and then everyone networks to try to land their top groups. It's an uphill battle for lateral hires for sure, and having a generalist offer means you could wind up in either coverage or product.

barclays requires a farcical group placement process when incoming full-time but the overwhelming majority of interns return to the same group they summered in making you wonder why they even have the process in the first place
