Ghosted by my own team?

Hello people ( I am posting under IB forum to get more opinions).

I wrote a post last week explaining how my 2022 S&T rotational SA is about to be pulled as HR recently told me they cannot support me to get a J1 visa to work in NYC (even though I indicated in my application i needed one). As suggested by some, I reached out to my interviewers (two MDs) to see if they know more about the matter for S&T specifically. I sent the email Thursday late at night and it is now Tuesday next week. I know MDs have more important matters on hand, but am I being ghosted ? should I follow-up again?

It is just super depressing as desks have reached out to me to interview me to be on their desk and I have to reply one by one I will not be wasting their time as I do not even know if I can be there for the summer. My only backup plan now is to be enrolled in a summer term. I am emotionally drained, so should I do that and move on from this mess?

That is also part of the problem. I am kind of running out of options. HR said every office is full for interns this summer, so I cannot get transfered even if I wanted to.

hmm is there anyone more senior you can talk to in HR? Head of campus recruiting? The sponsorship stuff does happen on occasion but typically moving to your home country is the remedy, and 1 intern is not the dealbreaker for any office... not like you've done anything wrong

I'd keep pushing with HR. The US is probably out at this point but try to get them to move you to Canada

Hey, did you try asking if they can put you on a team in Canada? I've seen some BB's have S&T in Canada so that might work?

Agree with the above, email HR for options and let them know you don't have a backup plan so they will hopefully pity you and help you.

Also I think you should've still interviewed with the desks for placement anyway -- moving forward, just go through the placement process normally like you heard nothing from HR. If the desks end up really liking you post-interview and you get placed into those desks before HR pulls your offer due to visa issues (since the HR person who does visa stuff might be different from the HR person who coordinates just the placements), then you can explain your situation to your desk buddy/interviewer/staffer who can speak with HR.

TL;DR: Continue with desk placement because arguing for keeping your SA holds more weight if you are already placed into groups and prepared to work. Your interviewers probably don't even remember you tbh.

Yeah, I thought about that. But I decided it would be disingenuous and kind of dishonest to proceed forward with placement even though I knew I could not get a visa after HR told me. If the desks later  find out I knew beforehand, it would have been a messy situation.
