How common is it for individuals who start as analysts in Global Transaction Services (Corp Banking) to transition into IBD?
With these programs gaining popularity at BAML, Citi, DB, etc, one cannot help but wonder about the potential exit opportunities that come for analysts with these positions.
Furthermore, which specific areas within GTS are the most applicable, or best-looking for those aiming to transition into IBD afterwards?

I know some guys in GTS at the bank I work for. It has more of a commercial banking angle. Generally, I think you can always move within an institution to whatever team you want, especially at such junior level. Just do a great job and keep on networking with other teams. In addition, depending on what you specifically do, either Cash or Trade side, you can develop some good transferable skills. The GTS guys working on supply chain finance solutions, for example, are pretty involved in the working capital analysis of companies. Hope this helps

It's really hard to move from GTS to IBD. There are few transferable skills and GTS doesn't have the best reputation despite being a top revenue generator, at least at Citi.
If you're an analyst, try to make a switch as soon as possible, because the longer you stay in GTS the harder it will become. You can leverage the Citi / DB / BofA brand and move to a boutique. If you have already been in GTS for more than 2 years, your best shot is to go to business school and then to move to IB as an associate. (You can still use GTS to get into a top business school. I know people know have gotten into Wharton, Booth and Kellogg).
Having said that, if you get some experience in Trade Finance, that can lead to a job in Corporate Banking or Capital Markets - still not IB though.

@Nexxus_1" & Atiba , the specific group I have put my preference to go into operates within the Liquidity Mgt & Investments realm - so I hope it could also open up some doors with respect to Capital Markets eventually. Maybe even some inroads to Forex?
I interned in a supply chain/export finance group and turned it into a FT offer at a MM IB. Obviously not the same as moving while FT, but interning it can be done with some networking.
