Going to Work For A Client

A bit of background, I am currently a 3rd year analyst at a TMT group.

I've just finished working on a deal with a growth-stage client who I find very interesting. I've developed a good relationship with some of their senior management, and would absolutely love to move into a strategy & finance role there.

Any suggestions on how to start this dialogue? Is there a way to do this without it getting back to my MD? Does that even matter?
