GS pooling all European Analysts and Associates into two super groups

From FinancialNews:

Goldman Sachs Group Inc. (GS) has launched a sweeping reorganisation of its analysts and associates in Europe, doing away with country-based and sector-based teams and creating two super groups focusing on northern and southern Europe.

.....

The restructuring encompasses all of Goldman Sachs' analysts and associates in the European investment banking division, including all country-based teams as well as those covering industrials; healthcare; technology, media and telecommunications; commercial and retail; real estate; and financial sponsors, according to an internal memo seen by Financial News.

Goldman Sachs currently employs between 80 and 100 junior bankers in Europe, who were previously organised by region and sector.

For those in the bullpen, how would this news be taken if it happened at your firm?

trazer985They bought the old PwC office in London (one of) and are turning it into a mega trading floor, it seems. Makes sense.

goldman and DB really need to colsolidate their offices. in fact the shard and its Mordor style tip would have been apt for GS.

Like the UBS 'superpods'. They're commoditizing banking to the next level. Remember what happened to manufacturing.....that's what's going on in finance.

Next up is corporate governance and then the gov't itself. Everything is slimming down.

Get busy living

The Superpods are coming for you all. Good luck with Megafund recruiting, now.
