GS Returnships
Hi All
Been searching the forum and haven't come up with much. I'm an older candidate who has been out of the work force for 5 years and am looking to re enter. The GS Returnship looks like just the ticket.
Anyone have any inside info on the Returnship program run by GS? What level do I go into if I get through the returnship and get a full time offer. I have close to 15 years experience in IB controlling experience - if I shine during the returnship would my full time offer be at associate/VP/ED? Any info on the demographics - age, backgrounds, men/woman?
Or any info about similar programs run by other banks?
Many Thanks
I believe Morgan Stanley is doing something similar to this with a program that begins in early 2016, don't know anything else though, sorry!
Just googled, but "Goldman Sachs, which created 11 eight-week stints for IT and back-office professionals in 2008, the first year of its returnship program, more than tripled that number in 2010 but dropped back to 16 the following year in order to ensure high-quality, high-touch support. About half the participants have gone on to regular positions at the firm."

I know a significant amount about Goldman Returnship and the other Wall Street Reentry Internship programs. Morgan Stanley and Credit Suisse have closed applications for their 2016 cohorts but Goldman's is still open until October 18. JP Morgan will open applications next spring. The reentry interns typically "convert" to permanent roles at the VP level. You must demonstrate a complete career break for 2 years or more in order to be eligible. Thanks for the insight brofessor
Thanks for the info Carol. I have come across your firm and looks like you have worked with GS and others on their Returnship program.
Thanks for the info guys. That's pretty much all I can glean so far. Looking at profiles on LinkedIn looks like the vast vast majority are woman. Some at ED level now who started in the 2008/09/10 at GS but can't tell whether they went directly to that level or worked their way up to it.
If anyone at GS has seen the Returnship cohort coming through it'd be great if you could chime in?
I hate to admit it, but I have to give kudos to Goldman for running this program.
My understanding is that you can come in at any level, unlike an analyst class that all come in at exactly the same level.
Good luck.
we have a client that was considering doing this. she was in M&A banking back in the 80s and 90s before motherly duties took priority but after a divorce she wanted to get back to work. my understanding from her is that most of the programs are either NYC or Chicago and they're pretty much geared towards women only. I think there are positions in all areas of the firm though: ib, ER, asset mgmt, etc.
agreed DF, big kudos to GS and MS for doing this
