GS Virtual Insight ‘23 programme

Hi,

I’m a U.K.-based Russell Group freshman economics student, applied for GS Virtual Insight 4-week programme with the NY office (yes, European students are allowed to apply). The programme is designed for my year as exploratory, with skill-building workshops, group tasks, etc. I have an alright CV, 100+ days of internships related to financial sector, plus some certificates, 3 languages + 2 programming ones. I’ve been told by some that in order to have a chance of getting selected for this event, I need some sort of a recommendation letter (?) from an existing employee. Unfortunately, apart from co-running a small student led am fund and doing an IB certificate, I don’t know anyone at GS. I fear that I don’t have what it takes, and I can’t show my abilities because there is no assessment stage. Would be enormously grateful for any insight or advice I can receive.
