haircut for group placement

how much do bankers care about your haircut for networking into groups for team placement? was definitely planning on getting a more trim style for my summer analyst internship this upcoming summer but i currently have a bit of a longer hair style that covers my forehead / can look a bit shaggy.

Bankers care more about your professionalism, work ethic, and ability to fit into the team than your haircut. However, appearance does play a role in first impressions, especially during networking and team placement. Based on the most helpful WSO content, here are some tips:

  1. Keep it Clean and Professional: A neat and well-groomed hairstyle is always a safe bet. While longer hair isn't inherently a problem, it should look intentional and tidy rather than unkempt or shaggy.

  2. Match the Culture: Different banks and groups may have slightly different cultural norms. While some may be more relaxed, others might lean more traditional. A clean, professional haircut ensures you won't stand out for the wrong reasons.

  3. Confidence Matters: Ultimately, how you carry yourself is more important than the specific style. If you're confident and polished, your haircut will be a non-issue.

If you're planning to trim your hair before your internship, that's a good move to ensure you look sharp and professional. It’s a small detail, but it can contribute to a positive first impression during networking and team placement.
