Headhunters asking for analyst class info

Should I give these HHs my analyst class list? Several have asked me and idk how it would help me at all. Would it build good karma for me since I did them a favor or would it just dilute my competitive position by making their jobs easier?

I think you should give the HHs a few of your fellow analysts' information, specifically people that you like. While your concern is real, your colleagues might already be in contact with different / the same headhunters. You might as well make the most of your relationship with your HHs and earn some good will by providing them with information that they may or may not already have.

I suppose the above advice is being given by established members, but i feel for the op's concern. Unless he is a stellar candidate, who's to say that HHs won't look at the class list and immediately find the people in the top groups/best colleges and give them preference while leaving op in the dust (assuming he's not a top notch candidate on paper)?

Don't headhunters work for their own interests and not the analyst's interests?

I don't see how giving the HH the info requested helps the OP? The HH is focused on landing analysts into positions and if there is a wider list the HH can work with the focus on the OP is diluted. OP maintain your leverage and hold out on giving the info, perhaps share the info once you have exhausted the HH's value and or secured an offer. No need to divert the HH's focus away from you...

Just my two cents.

Alternate thought: they're going to get it from you or they're going to get it from someone else. If you say no outright, they'll probably ding you and they'll have the list anyway. Talk to them, ask them to put you on the top of the list for you help. Little quid pro quo as stated earlier. And by the time you get a position the analyst list won't matter because most of the jobs will have been filled or the process will be pretty far down the line.
