Heads up for Upcoming Summer Analysts...

my bank obviously a BB had three guys over today for first round interviews for nxt yr summer analyst program...

from what i heard they were pretty good and are definitely going to be invited back for superdays..

a little background on them, 2 ivys 1 non ivy. come from a different BB's sophomore rotational program...

if i was looking to get in next summer, i would be trying hard right now to get interviews...

just thought i'll let you guys know because spots would be gone come january if you don't fall within the target range i.e ivy and extreme resume

I'm totally lost.

I was under the impression that you weren't allowed to send in your resume for summer analyst positions until Nov./Dec. at pretty much ALL BB banks? At least this is what it's been from my experience.

Are you sure they aren't interviewing for another analyst position? Maybe full-time analyst?

just to break it down. you are allowed to interview for next summers position this year if you network right and leverage your offers.

the kids that interviewed at my bank today, they have verbal offers from their sophomore program at their BB's and the deadline to accept this is in November or something. They have no option than to interview this summer for next yrs program. I heard a couple more kids are coming in tomorrow and they didn't do any sophomore rotational programs which means that they must have networked their ass inside.

yeah..10 spots from outta the bank. don't forget my bank has it's own Sophomore Program which is like 37 kids or so. I'm not too sure about the figures..

but c'mon, i'm just giving you the heads up especially for the non targets. try and see if you could get in touch with your contacts. you don't have to take the information.

I mean, most banks just say to wait until regular recruitment in the spring, on their websites...in info sessions, etc.

Btw, my school (target) was one of the most represented in MS sophomore rotational (with like 2 kids...but still, one of the most represented) and had 8 junior year SA...so he has a point.

altfp...summer analyst positions are harder to fill with quality candidates. GPAs as well as school prestige has definitely dropped in the past few years.

True, but the number of top candidates at univerisites doesn't automatically increase when the banks increase their intake because the markets are good. The top hires are basically the same in number, it's just in a bull market, ibanks hire a lot more douchebags as well.

For students that are not in the BB sophomore rotational programs, but have pretty good work experience, non target, is it worth contacting my contact now, or waiting until august/sept? He's an MD at a capital group, manages about 3 billion, and works with a lot of traders at BBs.

We have kids whose parents are major clients come in for interviews all the time. I love the kids with famous last names who suddenly discover that they want to do ibanking after pissing away a few years at college.
