Healthcare IB interview questions

Hi all,

I have a FT superday for a BB Healthcare IB analyst role coming up and I wanted to know if there’s any way to specifically prepare for HC interviews. Other than knowing deals in the space, are there any subjects/ resources I should specifically study? Thanks!

Know about recent trends (e.g. shift from fee per service to value based care, digitalization push during the pandemic, etc.) and also be able to answer some basic healthcare-specific technical questions: for example, know how to walk someone through a patient build, know that EV/peak sales is an important life sciences metric, know how to value a life sciences company with negative cash flow (comps and a probability adj DCF that accounts for likelihood of company's drug making it through the regulatory approval process; there’s a helpful investopedia article on this I suggest you read)

Reiterating what Lion1754 said, know how to build the P&L for biopharma i.e getting to peak sales, probability of success for the therapeutic area/indication, discount rate (most of these companies are pre-revenue so they don't take on debt your discount rate is going to be CoE), etc.

In terms of the biopharma landscape, Bruce Booth from Atlas Ventures writes a pretty good blog called lifescivc, scroll through it.

Lastly, assuming you don't come from a science background google RBC Biotechnology Primer from October 9, 2017; it's a little dated but still good.
