Help with decision - Student with no idea what to do IB 2019
Hi all, I recently received an offer from Barclays for the Summer of 2019. I was wondering what people thought about exit ops to megafunds. Though I like the firm, I am more interested in some other firms, however, they won't be able to accommodate me before my early-July deadline. What are your thoughts?
I have been speaking to some other firms, and it looks like I will be able to get interviews at some places but no guarantee I will be able to get other offers.
Background - semi-target, from NYC area.
Bump Need some advice, if anyone has any
Can’t be that many firms still recruiting that would be substantially better than Barclays - from what I’ve heard GS/MS and Evercore/PJT/Moelis/Perella are basically done. Are you just banking on a couple firms (like Laz and CVP)? If so I’d think that would be pretty risky.
I've heard that GS/MS are still saving some spots for August/September interviewing. Also heard that most of the boutiques, besides Lazard and CVP which are in the fall, are done. CS/Citi/BAML/DB all seem to be August too, and those firms seem to be on par w/BarCap.
Unsure if the GS/MS thing is true though, have you heard anything?
Lazard is full
BarCap?
You are talking about the US right? Most firms in Europe hire till December
do you know how many spots are left for barclays?
I think they have more interviews, but definitely filling up fast
do you know if interviews are going out on a rolling basis rn?
I would accept it. Barclays is a solid shop (one of the only European banks to make good returns on their IB practice this past year), and wouldn't be a bad place to start even for FT.
what are your thoughts on CS v. Barclays v. Citi v. BAML?
They are all good firms, go with the firm you fit best culturally and have the most support
.
I have a while, but will expire by August
Take Barclays. Great shop, with some really good teams. Laz is taking offers on a rolling basis, and is definitely not done (they had a superday literally yesterday).
Hey man, could you PM me?
Out of PMs
For Lazard SF, I know every group is done recruiting.
Barclays is a top firm. From what I see just browsing this site, SA recruiting (absolute fucking bloodbath) is wrapping up at most places that one would consider to be "better." However, Barclays is still a very strong BB and I'm sure that if you do well in your internship you could A) be able to network with other BB/EB's or B) secure a return offer and then try to become a top analyst and have early picks at exits. Not an expert by any means haha but just what I could gather from your situation. Good luck bud
