Hi everyone, I know there’s many discussions on this before, but I feel like this may be unique because the goal is NOT to stay in the Midwest, and to make the move to NYC for FT recruiting or lateral. Have offers from some of these, so would love to hear everyone’s opinions on how they would rank HL Chicago/Minneapolis RX, William Blair Chicago, Baird Chicago, Lazard MM Chicago/Minneapolis. Perhaps you should try a firm with a NYC presence? Baird IB has no NYC office. I don't know how fluid transfers are from Lazard MM to Lazard regular in NYC.
This. If you want to get out of the midwest - why are you only recruiting with midwest firms? Blair has essentially no banking presence in NY. As the poster above mentioned, experience at all the firms can be leveraged, but why not just go direct?
It's less about where I've recruited and more about where I go to school which has led to where I got offers.

Go with Houlihan.
The firms are not comparable in that they do different things/compete in different markets. However, in terms of how these groups/banks rank within their respective lanes, I think Houlihan RX is the best. That counts for something if you are trying to leverage the position to go elsewhere.

Thanks everyone for the responses! The follow up question I have is how important is being in Chicago relative to Minneapolis vs being in a firm that has a NYC office against one that doesn't? I would assume being in a firm that has a NY office is more important than which Midwestern city I'm in.
