Hours in Markets other than NYC/LA/Chicago
Do ibankers in Atlanta/Houston still work 80+ hours weeks? Or is this mostly just bankers in the largest markets such as NYC/Chicago. Also, would I be working fewer hours at a MM bank in Nashville than somebody working at a MM in NYC?
People may be nicer, but for the most part, the hours aren't much better. The MM market ranges very widely. The likes of Baird/Houlihan/Harris Williams will work you hard no matter what office you're in. Some of the lesser known MMs and boutiques will have reduced hours but you're almost always going to be at the office past dinner.
If you're talking about Brentwood in Nashville, you probably will home by 7 or 8 every night. The base is only 50,000 though (no signing bonus).
If you want to get paid like a BB you need to work BB hours.
keep in mind that those "other markets" are the key markets away from nyc.. Houston is the market for energy and west coast for tech ...
True. The main thing is, I do not want to work in NYC (or anywhere outside of the South, for that matter). I'd much rather work in Atlanta/Nashville but I don't mind working 80 hours a week or whatever it takes.
Look into B&T and suntrust
