How important are those online webinars?
I am curious about the importance of those online webinars that BBs seem to be promoting lately. My best guess is they are a proxy for interest but if you go to OCR events then is that enough in terms of the interest category? The webinars seem pretty useless for the most part. I go to HYP if that makes a difference.
I was on a BB webinar a few weeks back and got a personal email from a campus recruiter that I knew about 3 minutes after the webinar ended. They're definitely paying attention to who attends those things.
While I don't know what metrics they pull and how they weight them, having name familiarity with the people that matter can go a long way. If anything, you can use it to gain some contacts with recruiters at the BB and they can put you in touch with teams.
Attending the info session + webinar > Attending the info session
Webinars are usually 1-2 hours long and cover information about a company you're interested in. Unless you really have something better/important to do for those 1-2 hours, I don't see why you wouldn't want to do it.
Is there a way to attend the webinars without attending OCR sessions? Currently at a non-target.
It depends on the firm. Some firms will post their webinar dates and information about how to access them on their websites. Other firms will have webinars for a specific group of people (like their target schools) and they will send emails to those schools about information about the webinar.
It definitely won't hurt. If it gets repetitive or boring just mute it and do something else.

For context, I am a rising sophomore at a target school. I've been seeing a lot of opportunities to participate in webinars for the various banks for next summer's internships. They all happen in the evening when I have other networking events, happy hour, or gym commitments. The few that I've seen usually have information that I've gleaned from in person events or from speaking to employees.
Can anyone say with certainty whether or not these are worth watching? Is my application positively affected by putting my name on the list and watching these?
