How is the IB culture in London in 2024?

Over the past ~6 years professional services (banking / consulting / law) have in general seen a large shift in culture and working hours. I find a lot of older threads on hours, culture, etc. in London but would be interested in an updated perspective.

Two things that would be of interest (and are probably heavily correlated):

- culture: are there larger differentiations/archetypes between banks or is it more sector specific (i.e., MS culture on toxic side but certain groups better than e.g., selected groups at GS

- hours: what are the hours like during the week and how about weekend work? (i.e., have hours become lighter or are they still as tough as in previous years, how often do people need to work on Sundays, etc.)

One more qualitative thing:

How's life in London as a junior banker these days? I have the notion that it was much more interesting and rewarding pre 2008ish (if you compare comp from e.g. the leaked Lehman list vs. COL there is an insane gap to today). I love London as a city and always fancied living there but I am not sure whether I have a rosy view of the city. Not sure how one perceives London when working till 02.00 AM during the week and every Sunday.

Thanks!

Bump, interested – can't speak for BB/EB but at the LMM shop where I did my SA stint you'd see people work c.70 hour weeks with little/no weekend work, maybe coming in around 9 and leaving anywhere from 9pm-12am, with some people leaving earlier to WFH
