How many follow ups is overkill

When sending networking emails, how many follow ups is overkill?

There's an alum at my non-target who has a lot of pull so it's essential for me to grab coffee with him. I spoke to him on the phone back in April and have been asking for a quick coffee chat. I've sent 3 emails (waited 2 weeks between each email) so far, should I follow up again?

You spoke on the phone and he's ghosted you since? Probably didn't make a great impression then. 3 is overkill whatever the case, but unless he definitively promised something in that chat (definitive because some people will say vague things like "we have no capacity", "try lateraling later", "we'll re-evaluate in a few weeks" with no intent of ever coming through for you...just to be polite about it).
