How many monitors for WFH?
How many monitors did your firm send you for your WFH set up? I'm a 1st year at a BB and they sent us just 1 monitor and no laptop.
Should I buy another monitor or a laptop or ask the firm to get one for me?

my firm sent a 27" monitor, and I already had a 32". plus the macbook 13".
that is enough for now.
you work with your macbook? is it through vmware or virtual desktop? i feel like it would be super laggy
we had lenovo devices but there is a new internal IT BYOD program that allows certificates on external devices. so this macbook is my own device and I am allowed to used it.
Most of our meetings are through cloud based services anyway and some external ones are on Zoom (zoom hasn't gone through compliance teams yet).
no need to use VMware or anything, it is just sharepoint, MSFT teams, zoom, and other software. some internal software doesn't work because the internal VPN client doesn't work on MacOS
Where do you work that the firm sent a macbook!! Lucky man
2 + laptop is preferible, but ran on laptop only for a few months. Pretty brutal.
Firm sent 2 x 24' monitors and a nice dock to get everything connected.
I have a Macbook and run an oversized monitor off it. Works well for me.
You run macOS or boot camp?
MacOS
I bought 2 27 inch monitors and a docking station for the laptop I already had. I also having an ipad.
how are you able to connect your ipad to your firm's microsoft outlook and other work apps?
I have an RSA token for my IPAD just like I do for my phone
Key is a big screen and high resolution. I have a 27" 1440p that I bought for $200.
and 1 screen is enough for you? i have a 27in as well but sometimes i have like 3 PPT decks and 2 models open which is super annoying
And high refresh rate too, from what I understand makes it easier on the eyes
i have a 32" 1440 and a 27" 1080
it's enough for now but i kinda want a second 32"
This has been a surprisingly very useful conversation for an incoming FT analyst. Can someone explain the benefits of having 2 monitors as opposed to having one, larger (32 inch) monitor? Thanks, planning my workspace for the summer.
Its all your preference man. You can have 1 or 5. I know that is not the answer you were looking for but dude its all up to you. I personally use 3
