How to leverage an unrelated internship

Hey everyone, I am a current sophomore at a nontarget looking to break into IB. This year my internship focus was based on landing a position anywhere that was vaguely finance related, as I was behind on applying to banks due to transferring schools. I was able to land a position at a large industrial technology company as a internal audit intern, and was looking for advice on what to focus on during this internship to learn and leverage for my applications for investment banking internship roles in 2024?

Internal audit can still be leveraged to some extent. You still work on project based work but very limited modelling. You develop strong excel skills ish too. I would maybe learn about modelling and how it works in IB. Maybe do the FMVA if you can and say you spoke some of the people at the firm who put you in touch with bankers which made you interested in the field which is why you did XYZ research to bring you to this interview or this opportunity
