How to train commercial awareness?

Hey guys, I wanna go more in-depth on certain sectors and product groups. I am curious to see how you develop specific knowledge/understanding of trends. And of course how do you keep yourself updated on relevant news.

What i usually do is listen to FT news briefing , read several articles from FT and follow some PE/Tech/General newsletters.

What would you recommend me in order to improve?

Write your own analysis based on reliable data you can find. You’ll be impressed how much you learn when your signature is behind the work.

Tip: Being really good and deep at 1-2 industries will trump machine gunning several industries superficially. Make a choice, and dive hard brother.

How would you recommend going about finding information to write these reports? I have not hit the desk yet but would like to hone in on my skills.
