Industrial Placement or Summer Internship?

Help! What to do?

I'm considering whether its best to apply for Industrial placements or summer internships.

My thought process is that in applying for an industrial placement I can delay my graduation, apply for SW etc. The issue with this is that FO placement roles are hard to come by, most are in areas such as risk, compliance or other areas and it could prove to be a wasted opportunity.

Conversely, applying for summer internships will obviously be far more competitive in it being the most traditional route but there's more openings out there.

I'm really stuck on what I should do, a mix of both or just place all my eggs in one basket. I presume you can only apply to a firm once in an application cycle.

Background - Finance at a semi target.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!
