internal transfer from HLHZ corpfin to HLHZ restructuring?

I will be starting as a first-year analyst at a regional office of Houlihan Lokey in one of the corporate finance industry groups. I am interested in potentially pursuing an internal transfer to Restructuring for two main reasons: the work interests me more, and being in NYC. Does anyone have any advice they could please provide, or know of anyone who made a similar move?

It's possible but you'll need to re-interview and will be dependent on target office availability, although I've heard of people moving between FAS and CF (just never into FRG). At the end of the day if you're good and the company wants to keep you, then they'll accommodate the move. Keep in mind that you'll need to do it sooner rather than later considering that restructuring is different animal than CF with regards to what you learn, meaning that they may bump you back a year for the transfer (i.e. if analyst 2 in CF then may be analyst 1 in FRG when transfer). Keep ears open for office availability (LA, CH or LO may make more sense for the move) and if you're serious ask HR.

Also interested in making a similar move. Any suggestions on how to handle this with the current boss? I dont want to burn any bridges or alienate myself if things dont work out...
