Interviewed for Group X at BB. Can I apply for Group Y?
I recently had a superday interview for an Associate position in IB at a BB in Group X. I did not get an offer, which was probably because I was not as prepared for technicals as I should have been. I have been practicing my technicals and will be better prepared for the next opportunity. The BB has another position open in a different group (Group Y), and I would actually prefer Group Y. I landed the interview with Group X through networking, and I would probably use a similar approach for Group Y.
Is it a bad idea to try to interview for Group Y, given that I interviewed for Group X fairly recently? Should I wait before applying to Group Y? I don't want to waste anyone's time when networking, and I certainly don't want to burn bridges by pissing people off. For example, I am worried that when I start networking again, there will be a record of my previous interview/application, which may prevent me from getting an interview for Group Y.
