Investment Banking Divorce Rate

Here's a question for everyone. How many associates in your bank are married, and how many have gotten divorced? It seems that every senior banker I know is on their 2nd or even 3rd wife.

jackofalltradesi'd say it's more common to break up with a girlfriend than divorce a wife... the wife has an idea of what's going to happen and accepts it, whereas the girlfriend will never understand

This is probably true or at least they better hope this is the case...I couldn't imagine forking over the majority of my bonus to some bitch after putting in 100+ hours a week for the entire year. I would hate myself for life.

I'd say (for Europe) that probably 30% of associates are married, higher if you take out the direct promotes from analyst who have been with the bank since graduation. Rises to around 60% for VPs.

Most MDs I know are married to their first wife and have a few kids, in fact I only know of 1 unmarried MD come to think of it.

Exactly fellas. Focus on your career & self-improvement. Don't become bankers just to pay heft sums of alimony. There's no NEED to get married in 2017 when the Family Courts are not in your favor because you're MALE and because you make a handsome amount of money.

Work hard, work clean, & most of all do not give up.
