Is it worth going into IB solely with the intent to exit to corporate?
I don't really have much of a desire to end up in PE (maaaybe VC or GE if the right opportunity comes up); I'd much rather work at a company I think is cool and make a difference there.
My problem is that I go to a school with fairly little name recognition outside of "high finance" (think something like Middlebury), so I feel that recruiting for a role at a corporation I'm interested in would be more of an uphill battle than networking my way into a firm that we have good ties with. Plus, the accelerated career development from IB is certainly a plus—I'd (hopefully) never have to deal with making <100k.
Anyone have any thoughts?
