Is queens college a good school for IB?
Hey guys im new and im wondering if queens college in new york city is a good school to go to for going into the IB field? P.S i dont have the option for universities because their too expensive so if anyone with experience can help me out it would be appriciated.
Baruch would be a better option.
Any reason in particicular?
I'll second what was said above, Baruch would be better. I personally know 2 guys working in IB from Baruch so I can tell you its not impossible. From all the schools in the CUNY system, Im almost 100% sure Baruch is the go-to for anything business related not sure why but my guess is probably 'cause of their curriculum/coursework. (I think Hunter might be decent too). Do a quick linkedin search and see what school gives you the most hits and the background/exepriences they had.
Im not really lookng to work at the major company's like Goldman Sachs so will it be just as hard to find work at a company with a lesser status? I say this because i really am intrested in IB but if actually finding a job is going to be nearlly impossible i feel i should try something else.
Why are you "really intrested in IB"
Well the biggest attraction is probally the money but to me its more of a constantly learning and improving kind of thing, but I wouldn't mind working at another position.
They have an extremely limited alumni presence within front office IB. Baruch would be a much better bet. That being said its not impossible at QC , they have placed about 1 every year or so in upper middle markets in IB.... ( The elite boutiques won't touch the place , unless they have confused you with a Queens University student) Expect no on campus recruiting and you MUST have contacts within your own network outiside of school and can't rely on the 3 or 4 alumni within IB to get you interviews for front office positions. I believe they have placed within ops and back office but then again what school hasn't..
Don't do it. Baruch for sure
