Is there an appreciable difference in culture between investment banking divisions of banks as a whole?
I know it's much more dependent by group but since that's such a crapshoot, does anyone get a sense that different banks attract different types of folks? Is JP Morgan really more "blue blood", Goldman more "striver-y" or Morgan Stanley more "fratty" or are those perceptions just stereotypes?
The answer to this question really depends on who you ask. I would say that some sterotypes hold to a certain extent. For example - GS is a place that attracts a lot of Type A people. However, through my interactions I would not consider MS to be fratty at all - instead based on my interactions I would consider Citi to be more fratty. But someone else could have a completely different sterotype based on their own interactions.
Completely agree with this. Most people I have met at Citi are extremely fratty.
Does anyone have any insights on JPM's culture?
