It bothers me greatly...

that I'm still in training but I'm already thinking why I'm going to bust my ass and work these hours just to not be as competitive or get shafted during buy side recruiting. I feel like I can do just as good of a job as the next person but will only receive a very marginal return for my input because of my workplace.

Didn't get my top group and my BB isn't exactly the best and it has lost some seniors lately. Deal flow is good but markets are picking up for everyone.

Not like I'm going to quit, I'm just wondering if anyone has dealt with these thoughts are has some advice on coping. I know once I start hating waking up in the morning for work my life will turn into complete hell. I just need to make it through these 2 years.

oh goodness. i'm guessing ever since college you've been looking forward to buyside opps, and you've been constantly thinking about it. pls don't tell me that's all you care about. you could reply, "no! it's not all i think about..." but i'm sorry: for you to post this topic, it seems like that's pretty much you.

first, of course, some people don't even have a BB banking job

and besides, a lot of exit opps aren't even all that great. e.g. even if you get kkr, chances are you'll get let go (recession, up-or-out) before you get to md

sorry there's no "in bb banking but not in a good position for buyside opps support group"

if you end up hating waking up in the morning, you aint gonna be there in two years time

Sorry buddy but you wont probably ending up being in banking for more than 2 years, let alone going to a top shop. thats life. posts like these just remind me of the following words: narcistic, covetous, avaricious. Words that dont help you or anyone else. man up. Do what your job is or get out for the next person willing to do a better or harder job than you.

IF you are good, it absolutely doesnt matter where you come from as you will find your self with an opportunity that will either surprise or your planned for. Successful people make things happen.
