LinkedIn requesting etiquette
Since starting in finance, like many others, random people will reach out to me via LinkedIn to network.
Usually, however, they just send the request and neglect to send an accompanying message about why they’re reaching out.
Quite honestly, I ignore these requests if they don’t have a message explaining why they want to connect as well.
Thoughts? I think sending that accompanying message should be the norm but so few people do it.
LinkedIn is basically Facebook at this point, both in connection quality and quality of posts.
I usually just look at the person's profile and see if it's someone I'm interested in knowing myself / one day connecting with and accept / reject based on that.
Usually, when I get a message, I figure it's spam trying to help my "sales leads" or "they just started a fund with the ability to cut checks up to $100mm" but they are cold reaching out to me on LinkedIn for some reason.
Place is a cesspool at this point.
