London lateral market

Just wondering if anyone can share their recent lateral experiences into IB in London (at any level). How has it been hiring? Trying to make the move next year so any insights are greatly appreciated!

Network till your ass sweats, and then some more.

Edit: Saw you added a question, it's only for An1s. Banks are very picky if you graduated as well (they just want final year undergrad/Masters), need to network and get a senior referral to be considered even if you will be having an unemployment gap.

Don’t wanna hijack this thread but what’s the deal with referrals in London, (mostly SA related) How much do they help and how do you get them to do it internally on their end? Also what firms does it work at And how do you make ur referrals more effective.

Just wanna try and get as many interview as I can since my CV is good but so many ppl have great CVs and it’s very luck based to get a first round interview

Revisiting this thread in light of the last few weeks of progress - hiring is picking up. I'm currently in several genuine conversations ranging from BB to MM to boutique. There's a palpable sense of growing pipeline across a range of product lines (ECM aside tbh) and given the churn/redundancies in the last couple of years places are now feeling short-staffed.
