Looking for advice on how to get into M&A

Hi everyone, I am trying to educate myself on how to pivot into a career in M&A. I would like to know what technical and theoretical knowledge would be expected from anyone trying to become an M&A analyst. Additionally, I was hoping you could share your experience in this field, pros, and cons, do's and dont's, and maybe some tips into how you would suggest I start tackling this.
