Looking for Alumni without University help
The school where I am finishing my undergrad for some reason does not like to release a list of alumni. I have been trying to assemble my own list from people I know that have gone on to do banking. I was also able to obtain, from an MBA student, a list created by The CFA Society of Chicago that has all the CFA Alumni. I look for alumni when researching banks, too. I thought I was off to a good start until I heard from a professor today about an alum who works for GS as an MD. I realized I have not done enough. Does anybody have a different way to look for Alumni?
Thanks
LinkedIn is likely to be far better than your alumni directory. Professionals update their LinkedIn profiles and very infrequently update alumni database info. Getting LinkedIn to work for you requires some investment on your part however. You'll need to create a profile and begin to add connections. The first thing to do after creating your profile is to join your school group. Once you're in that group you can search members by industry, company, title, etc. You can send messages directly to anyone who is a member of a common group, whether you're connected to them or not.
