Meaning of call with staffer during FT group placement

Have a call scheduled with a staffer of the team I am interested in joining, does that mean I am likely offered the spot if the conversation goes well? Additionally, what do staffers look for in these calls? Thank you!

I mean, the calls with the staffer can go well for many of the incoming FTers so I wouldn’t put a huge amount of weight into it. I’d assume most of the FTers are likable and will get along well on a quick networking call.

A good call with the staffer makes a huge difference though overall. For me, I only had a few calls with some of the FTs and didn’t speak with some of the key contacts yet ended up getting placed due to having a good call with the staffer.

TLDR: Having a good call is important for having a good shot into getting into the group but doesn’t mean you’ll get into it as many other incomings could also have good calls with the staffer
