MF Valuations SA (Do I take offer?)
Struck out on IB recruiting last spring. Ended up getting a valuations summer analyst role offer at a MF PE firm (Apollo/BX/Ares/KKR). Feeling very depressed though. Should I not take it? Seems like a lot of ppl on this forum say MO is a dead end career path (no offense to MO ppl, by dead end I mean not resulting in other new opportunities). Does that apply to internships too? Like if I take this, is my career over?
I don't really know how many other opportunities will come out at this point, but should I reject offer and look for something else? It's an incredible name brand firm which is great, but if I'm just doing valuations over the summer, am I fucking my career up entirely? I really don't know what I want to do with my life, but I want to dedicate a lot of time to my career (don't care about work-life balance) and I'm scared that by taking this path, I am limiting my future options. Are there any other SA roles at this point that I should be focused on?
Also for context, I'm not dead-set on IB/PE. I really want to do something entrepreneurial when I'm older so my main priority is learning. Don't care abt salary. Still feel like IB/Consulting is the best opportunity to learn as much as possible out of college, but not sure if I'll be able to obtain a role if I spend summer in Valuations
