Military service & IB

Hi, I’m currently an undergrad at HSG. I have both Swiss and American passports. With my Swiss passport, I have to do military service. It’s about 4 months long. When should I do this? I’d prefer going back to the US if, Inshallah, I get into IB. In Switzerland, there are protections in place where your employer must legally allow you to do your military service and where they cannot fire you during this time. This obviously does not exist in the US, so should I take 4+ months after I get my degree to complete my military service? Would this hurt my chances or complicate anything?

The US does have legal protections however it only applies to US military service, like someone who is in the Reserves or National Guard. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Just my opinion but I'd say the sooner the better for your military service. I joined later in life (age 29) and then went to IB after I got out via MBA recruiting. There's no rule that you have to follow the "normal" analyst track. Wall Street is always going to be there but the military is something fun you can do while you're young, granted in your situation it's mandatory.
