Moelis NY Healthcare Group?

Hey guys,

How is the Moelis NY HC group split up? Are analysts generalists among healthcare? From job postings, they make it seem like it is split into different sub verticals (life sciences, healthcare services, etc.) Would analysts get the opportunity to work across the sectors? Any insight on this would be very helpful, thank you!

Moelis HC is split among Life Sciences, Pharma Services, HC Services, HCIT, and MedTech, but analysts get can staffed across verticals as help is needed. Friendly team with very good junior exposure and solid deal flow. I think they've also recently started HC specific intern recruiting because of how fast the group is growing. Exits are arguably one of the best (friends have confirmed an Apollo, KKR, Warburg, LGP, Permira, Centerbridge for the current or upcoming class).

That being said, HC is probably one of the sweatiest groups at Moelis. Brutal hours, and a good amount of pitching.

At moelis you can either apply to the generalist pool and hope to get placed into healthcare services, or you can apply directly into the Life sciences group. These are 2 separate groups and they do not work with each other. The life sciences group is completely separate and they run their own process/timeline as well. You do not need to go through any kind of group placement if you apply directly to Life Science. Hope this helps.

What do the sub verticals like like within those two groups you mentioned, HC services and Life sciences group? Does HC services ever work on HCIT deals, medtech deals, etc? And same to life sciences, will you strictly be working in life sciences? Or would you have the ability to be exposed to other sub verticals as well? Appreciate the help a lot.
