Need advice
Hi, so I am in a very tricky situation. As a background, I just started an investment banking analyst position at a boutique in NYC , and as a week ago got hit with a “standard” noncompete and bonus clawback clause. The noncompete basically says I can’t work at any job that has the words “investment banking”, “asset management”, “private equity” and several other related words for 90 days after I leave the company (whether terminated or resigned). It also mentions how I can’t work at any broker dealer / RIA in the UNITED STATES for the same amount of time for 90 days and gave a long list of about 30 other banks I can’t work at for 2 years. In the meantime I’ve been scrambling to interview at other shops but now have been told to make a decision by Monday. The thing is I have a final round with another boutique that day as well as a 2nd round interview with a middle market (think WB / RJ / Baird) next week. Any advice would be helpful, as I’d most likely not be able to join if I signed. Thanks guys
