Nomura Greentech SF vs RBC SF

Curious to hear thoughts on these two firms relating to culture, lateral opportunities and exit opportunities. I am interested in tech and also in VC/growth equity in the future. Thanks!

RBC culture from what i heard was fine but not the best, comparable to other UMM in the area with people overworked daily. Boutiques have it the best in the bay area. For NM GT, culture is not the best either btw at least in the SF office. One of my friends told me everyone is actively meeting recruiters at BBs and boutiques across the street to try to lateral. MDs keeep throwing pitches at people that they know have a very low chance of succeeding. That too, they throw them the day before the date.

Anecdotally have heard otherwise about Nomura Greentech SF culture. Juniors are close to one another and firm is gaining momentum which means more interesting deals. Senior culture of pitching is probably more on point given the momentum of the firm which can be bad

Yeah juniors bond over their daily hazing from seniors at Nomura GT. Anybody half decent laterals out of that shop immediately

I am currently at NGT and this is very accurate. I am in the NY office, everyone is miserable, everyone is trying to recruit out - If you want to work on deals, go to an BB, if you want to work on a ton of pitches and relationship building at 4am that will never go anywhere, NGT is the best place for that.

Congrats on the offers my guy! SF is a great place to be the COL is decreasing rapidly and SafeWay is the best grocery store. Exits in SF in general are amazing and much better in New York IMO and the kind of tech deals these two firms touch are much more interesting than whatever Media and Telecom do in NY!
