Non-core superdays?

So non-targets are considered separately by bbs? Just found this out lol. I know that OCR>online apps by far, but for god's sake, if non targets arent directly compared to targets, idk why everyone thinks being at a non target is that much worse.

I know it carries an advantage. I'm just saying, if you go to state school and get a 4.0 /tons of boutique internships/ECs and network slightly, you'll have just as good of a shot as any target school kid. WSO makes it seem like being from a non-target is impossible to recover from, when it comes to SA recruiting.

The advantage that targets have is OCR and a vast alumni network. Most non-targets have neither of those. It is much harder to get an interview without those two.

Have you looked at the success forum? 99% of those threads are from non-targets, so WSO certainly shows that it can be done.

Really depends on what type of non-target your school is. Is it a very well respected school that just doesn't have many students interested in finance or is it a mediocre school anybody can get into with the right amount of money? There's a difference. A number of top liberal arts schools aren't your traditional targets, but students from those places will get looks because people know their academic reputation.

I've had a good experience finding internships coming from a non-target. At the internship level before junior year summer, I don't think it makes that big of a difference between a non-target and target especially if you are targeting boutique investment banks. Obviously for banks like the big BB/EB/MM it matters, but most regional boutiques with a couple guys, it doesn't matter.
