Non Target Investment Banking Chances
Hi everyone, I'm a junior at a non target school (Kansas State) and am interested in Investment Banking. I wanted to get some input on what I could do to break into Investment Banking with my background. I have a 3.92 GPA, have held a number of high leadership positions within my Fraternity, and am involved in our Finance and Investment Club. I also have some small entrepreneur experience that has helped pay my way through college and looks descent on my resume. This past summer I did a bland accounting internship that wasn't that impressive and I also do not have any Financial Modeling experience (though my school just bought Wall Street Prep courses for a few of us who are on the "Financial Analyst Track" which was just recently created to try and help a select few students get into Investment Banking, so I should have those done within the month). I've reached out to some Fraternity and School alumni who have made it into Investment Banking but it's been more of picking their brains instead of asking about internships. So here's what I need help on:
- Which banks should I target MM, BB, EB?
- Is there anything that I can do while in college that would enhance by resume for Investment Banking?
- Recommendations on networking?
- If I can't get an IB internship, what is an internship that would be beneficial when it comes to applying for being a FT analyst upon graduation?
I'm no expert but I hope that helped.
