Absolutely.
The most important thing is to not label yourself as an international student when it comes to recruiting. A lot of times, we put too much focus on the fact that we’re non-target international, and it hinders our recruiting journey.
Recruit for as many banks as you can regardless what people say about sponsorship on this forum. All the schools (don’t know about UConn) you listed have incredible alumni networks and specialized programs that send kids to IB every year.
Have faith and enjoy this process. There are gonna be a lot of bumps along the way but you just need to be persistent and take it one day at a time. If you have questions, let me know.
Are you an analyst? Do you mind which type of bank you're at? BB/EB/MM etc.?
EB. You can message me for details
I'm the OP. Thanks for your advice, I really appreciate you taking the time out of your day to help me! Would it be okay with you if I PMed you?
Absolutely. Always happy to help another international student
Hi, I would also like to talk to you about the chance to get in BB as an international student. Since the limit of PM per day, is there any way to contact you?
You don’t get into BB as an international, you get into BB as someone who does well in recruiting (“Does well” means luck, good technical / academic capacities and social skills).
The first step of getting an offer is to stop labeling yourself as an international student, because your citizenship is something you can’t control. Focus on the things that you can take care of. At the end of the day, banks will extend you an offer if you’re the better candidates in the room.
A lot of kids weed themselves out because they think too much about being an international student. As an international who’s never been through any western education prior to college, I perfectly understand how much of an uphill battle it is to recruit. But the only thing you can do is to focus on what you can control.
Can I PM you if that’s okay?
At one of the three and there's literally no difference in quality of offers besides the fact that some banks don't sponsor, so international kids can't go to those
