NYC or Big 10 school
What's a better plan of attack when trying to enter ib. Going to school in NYC (Baruch) where network opportunities are endless, or go to a semi target Big 10 school (Wisconsin)?

Wisconsin, esp if you're OK with Chicago
Second this, especially if you want to have a good time. Wisconsin is a solid school and Madison is a great city.
Chances at IB are prob pretty close to equal at their respective financial hubs and the Big Ten experience will be 10x more fun than Baruch.
If you're okay with regional/Chicago offices for IB, then I echo the thoughts above. If you're focused on NYC IBD, would probably recommend Baruch. Baruch is not a great option and I don't think terribly highly of the school, but I also don't know any analysts in NYC IB from Wisconsin. Not saying I know everyone but even Baruch's limited number seems much higher than Wisconsin's.
Wisconsin actually places surprisingly well into NYC. I know of more than a handful of analysts that came from there. (Disclaimer I go to a big 10 school)
Take a look at the incoming summers analysts on their IB club. Looks like there are about 10 out of 30 or so heading to New York for the summer.

I stand corrected - guess I just never crossed paths with them / they've flown under the radar and avoided being in any stories I've heard. Sounds like there isn't a huge difference recruiting-wise then, in which case I would probably go with Wisconsin (depending if you want a more urban or Midwest large campus feel).
