Opportunity to move to a poached group

Essentially this products group at my bank lost its Head who went to a competitor. Assumption is he’ll take people over. Is this an opportunity for me to move over as a junior? Would it be dumb for me to move to a group in this condition? I don’t see myself working at this bank long term but i believe experience in this group will look good on my resume, and in the process, teach me a couple things.
