PLEASE HELP ME BEST ANSWER THIS FOR AN INTERNSHIP
Hi everyone, I am a non-business major and am applying for an IB internship and was asked this:
To apply for this position: - Share an example of what you believe would be an ideal company/client for "name of investment bank" to consider. - Do your research about investment banks and business development to make an informed recommendation. Has to be 200 words or less.
I am new to all of this and wanted to ask how do I best answer this to enhance my candidacy? - Thank you!
If you can't answer the question to get an interview, what makes you think you're gonna get past multiple rounds of interviews?
Think about the products an IB offers, think about what companies need a lot of those products, then find a company in the industry, geography, and EBITDA range that your specific IB targets.
I hear Archegos is a solid client.
I would say either Archegos or Melvin Capital. Both solid funds with a great outlook
Think about sectors they focus on, size of deals, geographic precense (how strong is this bank in Europe for instance?), products the bank is particulary strong etc. Look for past deals they worked on (M&A, bonds, equity).
Would probably go for a listed company that does many acquisitions and divestments (but still a corporate within their focus sector), multionational with many currencies, etc. > equity issuances, bond inssuances, bank debt, M&A advisory, treasury stuff etc. Best would be if you could find a company where they don't do business with yet (and you indicating which banks they compete with).

Lol my advice is don’t do it bro this sounds like the stuff searchfunds make you do before you apply for an unpaid role. Never seen this done at a real bank or respected institution.
