(Please help!) This might be one of the most stupid questions in this forum but its a genuine concern

Hi, I'm from a target school and also an incoming analyst at an EB

I always had a solid group of friends at my college. I always had ppl to hang out with.
I'm not awkward (I like talking to ppl) but at the same time I never joined a frat nor did I go to many parties because I CANT DRINK (even a sip) IM ALLERGIC TO ALCOHOL RIP

Will this be a huge problem in my career? Investment banking is a client-facing job and I'm not sure how I can socialize or connect w ppl if I can't drink a freakin sip of wine. I'm also worried that ppl in my analyst class might think im no fun

I'm also considered a racial minority which makes it already difficult...

Am I just paranoid?

Can anyone who doesnt like to drink/cant drink but still succeeded in their banking career give me advice

yeah there's a guy I know currently in i-banking at Chicago (Harvard grad, Booth MBA). Pretty fun guy. Can't drink either due to medical reasons but he's pretty much full on into drugs (MDMa, cocaine etc)...I think that's what he uses to get a kick

I think you should be fine. I am a first year analyst (female) and I don't drink because of health reasons (don't have any medical issues. Alcohol is just bad for the body). Last year during my internship, my group used to have a happy hour every week and there were quite a few of us who didn't drink (you can just get water or a diet coke). My group is very fratty and the frat dudes have their parties/ late night drinking sessions etc that they don't invite any women too so there's that tho

Quite frankly most of the responses are not all that helpful.  You are an adult and so is everyone else you are working with.  No one will really give you shit for not drinking ( there maybe the occasional "why are you not drinking bro?"). You can have a completely fulfilling and strong career without alcohol, drugs and any other part of the partied out lifestyle people think that comes with banking.
