Possible to Find Specific Bankers on Deals?

Hello forum. Apologies in advance for any industry ignorance. I was wondering if it's possible to find specific bankers that were staffed/worked on a deal?

I've occasionally (very rarely) seen investment bankers include which deals they've been staffed on in the past on their LinkedIn's. So besides them opting themselves into making that information public, is there a database of some kind anywhere?

Purpose behind the query is that I've found myself wanting to dive into processes for certain deals (that have closed / concluded) during coffee chats (if the banker is willing of course).

I'd love to know if such a resource existed or if it's common knowledge that this information is never publicly available. Thanks

Based on previous WSO threads, here are some insights on finding specific bankers who worked on deals:

  1. LinkedIn:

    • Some investment bankers may list the deals they've worked on in their LinkedIn profiles. This is not very common but can be a useful resource when available.
  2. Bloomberg Terminal:

    • You can use a Bloomberg terminal, which is available for free in some public libraries, to search for people and deals. Typing "PEOP" on the terminal provides access to a large database where you can filter by various criteria.
  3. CapIQ and FactSet:

    • Creating a free trial account with a student email on platforms like CapIQ or FactSet can also help you search for people and deals. These platforms have extensive databases that can be filtered to find specific information.
  4. Networking Events:

    • Attending CFA society events or other industry networking events can be a good way to meet bankers and discuss their deal experiences.
  5. Email Databases:

    • Some users on WSO forums have compiled contact information of MDs, VPs, and other senior officials from various financial firms. Reaching out to these contacts directly might help you get the information you need.
  6. Public Filings and Press Releases:

    • Sometimes, public filings and press releases related to M&A deals will mention the advisory firms and occasionally the key bankers involved.

While there isn't a single comprehensive public database that lists all bankers and the deals they've worked on, leveraging these resources can help you gather the information you need for your coffee chats.

Bankers tend to repost deal announcements that they have worked on. It isn’t a database but could act as a great way to backtrack into who worked on those transactions!
