PWP Process - Advisory Prep Fast Track
Hi Everyone,
Happy New Years. I had a question regarding Perella Weinberg's process. I was accepted into the advisory prep program and have a first round coming up in 2 or so weeks. I have been trying to network with the SF office but to no avail. How important is networking still since I have a first round? I've followed up a few times with several people in Nov/ early Dec and I don't want to be an obnoxious pest. Should I maybe try to reach out again after my first round?
Thank you!
Networking remains important, even if you already have a first-round interview lined up. Based on the most helpful WSO content, here are some key points to consider:
Balance Persistence and Politeness: It's great that you've already reached out and followed up. If you feel like you've hit a wall, it might be wise to pause for now and focus on preparing for your first-round interview. After the interview, you can use it as a reason to reconnect with those you've reached out to, updating them on your progress.
Strategic Timing: Reaching out after your first round can be a good move. It allows you to share your experience and express continued interest in the firm. This can also help you stand out as someone who is proactive and genuinely interested.
Quality Over Quantity: As highlighted in WSO threads, you don't need to network with everyone in the group. Focus on building meaningful connections with a few key individuals who can advocate for you.
Preparation is Key: While networking is important, your performance in the interview will carry significant weight. Make sure you're well-prepared for both technical and behavioral questions, as well as any case studies or take-home assignments.
Confidence and Clarity: When you do reach out, exude confidence and have a clear purpose for the conversation. Avoid being overly apologetic or timid in your emails.
Good luck with your first round, and remember to leverage your interview experience to strengthen your networking efforts afterward!

What school do u go to? Maybe they’re only looking at their firm targets?

I’d say to try again after the holidays. Obviously not as necessary since you’re already in the prep program but wouldn’t hurt to try and get your name in front of as many people who determine if you get in or not
Thank you for responding! I’ll make sure to do that.
