Python in IB?
Is coding with Python applicable to banking, or just Hedge Funds and trading? What might it be used for/when would it come in handy?

I have never used any type of computer science coding in IB. If we were forced to do that on a regular basis, I might as well be a software engineer.
Interesting... I have heard coding skills suggested for Finance, but maybe it is for other areas.

I use python for BI work since it's a little faster/easier than Excel most of the time. Excel gets pretty chuggy quickly if you're working with larger data sets.
I would recommend learning the basics since it's: a) Quick to do b) Easy c) Comes in handy a lot
So you do have the flexibility of modeling/doing calculations in Jupyter and just converting to excel? If that's allowing modeling would be a lot easier probably haha
By the way what's BI work?
the only snakes I've seen in IB are the hr people man
I have seen some people on other forums talk about Excel VBA for automating repetitive tasks. I still don't think Python is becoming a core requirement to work in IB anytime soon.
