Recruiting RBC and Moelis Afghanistan: My Experience

I wanted to share my recent experiences with the recruiting timelines at RBC and Moelis Afghanistan. It's been a unique journey, to say the least!

RBC Recruiting Timeline

RBC's recruiting process kicked off earlier this year with a series of networking events and coffee chats. From what I gathered, the timeline typically involves:

  1. Early Summer: Networking events and coffee chats begin.
  2. Late Summer: Applications open for internships and full-time positions.
  3. Early Fall: First-round interviews.
  4. Mid to Late Fall: Superdays and final round interviews.
  5. Late Fall: Offers extended.

Moelis Afghanistan Recruiting Timeline

Moelis Afghanistan's process was quite different and, to be honest, a bit challenging for me due to the language barrier. Here's how it went:

  1. Spring: Initial networking events and informal coffee chats.
  2. Summer: Application window opens.
  3. Late Summer: First-round interviews (mostly in Arabic).
  4. Early Fall: Final round interviews and case studies.
  5. Fall: Offers rolled out.

During my coffee chats with Moelis Afghanistan, the conversations were mostly in Arabic. As someone who isn't fluent, I struggled to keep up and understand the nuances. It was a learning experience and highlighted the importance of language skills in certain regions.

Anyone else here faced similar challenges or have tips for navigating these processes? Would love to hear your stories and advice!

Honestly, are people in First World countries this deliberately ignorant about literally every & any Third World country? Ignorance is fine—but OP should have at least bothered to google whether or not anyone actually speaks Arabic in Afghanistan before creating a troll post

Yeah, let's hop on a call.

Unfortunately Earth is seen as a semi-target.

Uranus/Jupiter/Mars(obviously) seen as targets. But with networking and good behavioral answers (esp. why mars) we should be good!

RBC Tajikistan has some weird requirements. They required 3+ years of combat experience, and I was scared so I told them I was a third degree black belt.

Then they threw me into the printing room and said I had to bare knuckle box their #1 MMA prospect. I got cold feet and decided to run out the door.

Lazard Antarctica rejected me because I was "shivering too much" during my Superday. Who knew polar ice M&A was so competitive?

Harvard is officially a non-target after those protests, showed how dumb harvard kids can be

Yeah RBC Mumbai was tough full of diversity hire South Indians and somehow a couple of black males who found their way hearing diversity. Can't really distinguish between them and south indians though. Its never been more over for non-diversity upper caste North Indian males. Gotta recruit for the Pakistan office now

Moelis New york invited all prospects in and asked us to have a royal rumble to select one

I applied at Moelis Afghanistan & they told me to watch navy seal mission footage. At first I was like what the fuck, am I applying to be an afghani banker or an afghani killer. Turns out, I slept with an Afghani male’s wives, all 6 of them.

Will repeat if the opportunity re presents itself.

Brother - the truth hurts sometimes, but there are no offices in those locations. I think you got scammed. You should try to contact Ben Moelis or whatever his name is.
